Trending Shorts For The Summer

Posted on July 09 2021

As part of our post-pandemic summer campaign, we’re focusing on the outfits and themes that you’ll need to get the most out of your summer. Of course, it then stands to reason that we’d place a special focus on one of the most quintessential of summer styles: the humble shorts.

The dismal weather, coupled with the disheartening general mood of the past year and a half, may have deterred you from showing any more skin than necessary, but now is the time to abandon such reservations and bare your legs once more with this selection of our favourite shorts for the summer!

Givenchy Black 4G Logo Jacquard Nylon Shorts

The decision to opt for a nylon fabric construction in Givenchy’s Black 4G Logo Jacquard Nylon Shorts is a crucial one for the summer months. It lends a lightweight, breathable quality to the garment that allows optimal airflow and encourages movement from the user. They’re bolstered by a sleek, all-over Givenchy 4G monogram that subtly hints at the label’s notorious savoir-faire and meticulous eye detail. Pair yours with Givenchy’s White Gothic Print Oversized T-Shirt and Balenciaga’s Black Track Sandals for the urban, off-kilter aesthetic that Matthew M. Williams intended.

Neuw Cody Sand Tailored Shorts

We’re struggling to recall an instance where the classic Bermuda short has been done as well as Neuw’s Cody Sand Tailored Shorts. It’s refreshingly uncomplicated in its design and is ready to go for almost any occasion. It works perfectly for informal afternoons around the family BBQ and slightly more sophisticated al fresco dinners, where smart-casual attire is preferred. There’s a reason why Bermudas and chino shorts are an absolute wardrobe must-have for the summer and that mainly comes down to their versatility. Our featured pair from Neuw is nothing if not versatile. Throw on a fun, floral summer shirt or a clean white t-shirt to really get the best out of this piece.

Off-White Blue Reconstructed Carpenter Denim Shorts

Virgil Abloh’s artfully experiments with deconstruction with his Off-White Blue Reconstructed Carpenter Denim Shorts. The contrast panels on the front look like they’ve been ripped straight off another garment, while the frayed edges and unfinished hems give the impression of a garment that is still in the process of being made. This is Abloh at his playful, creative best and we love this as a unique departure from the clean and pristine template that we’re of course accustomed to. This piece makes our list because it fits the ‘step out of your comfort zone’ mantra that we’re adopting this summer. These shorts will pair great with a number of other artful styles from our Off-White showcase, such as the Check Flowers Print Oversized T-Shirt or the White Sprayed Caravaggio Print T-Shirt.

Stone Island Shadow Project Black Bermuda Cargo Shorts

We really appreciate a good utility short here at Zoo Fashions, and they don’t come much more utilitarian than Stone Island Shadow Project’s Black Bermuda Cargo Shorts. As is the case with much of Errolson Hugh’s accompanying collection, these shorts experiment with zippers and hidden compartments in a way that ensures that there is always something more to discover lurking beneath the surface. The Stone Island Shadow Project has always been about technical innovation and that sentiment is exemplified perfectly by this featured piece. We suggest staying on-brand with styles like Stone Island Shadow Project’s Black Suede & Leather Chelsea Boots and Black Insulated Tactical Anorak for the utilitarian vibe that defines the label.

Palm Angels Black Track Shorts with Exodus Stripes

Palm Angels’ tracksuits are amongst the most popular of the brand’s staple silhouettes and have appeared in a number of different colours and fabrics over the years. This track short iteration, which is inspired by Bob Marley’s ‘Exodus’ album, is a particular favourite of ours, however. The striking red, gold and green stripes are instantly recognisable and deeply symbolic of Bob and his free-spirited personality. It’s one that aligns perfectly with Francesco Ragazzi’s own ethos and the feeling that he tries to communicate with his label. Of course, the summer brings with it a similar kind of spirit, so we’d highly recommend adding Palm Angels’s Black Track Shorts with Exodus Stripes to your wardrobe rotation for the coming months ahead.
