Salvatore Ferragamo kick-started his remarkable fashion career with his emigration to America in the 1920s. He was quick to make his name in his new home, frequently designing shoes for high-profile Hollywood stars including Audrey Hepburn and Joan Crawford. He soon returned to Florence to found his eponymous SALVATORE FERRAGAMO label and over the course of his life, invented many industry-classic patents. Innovative designs such as the cork wedge heel and the glove arch shoe can be credited to Ferragamo's passion for combining glamour and comfort in his footwear. This ethos was further enforced with the eventual development of his menswear collection in the late 1970s.
