In the ever-accelerating carousel of fashion, where trends turn over with the seasons, the true visionaries become defined not by their output alone, but by what they leave behind. At Zoo Fashions, our Rare (S)Pieces edits curate archival garments from designers who have not only created iconic collections, but moreover have authored chapters in fashions history. As we enter into the Autumn months, we turn our gaze to Rick Owens, Raf Simons, and Ralph Lauren. Three designers from vastly different worlds who, through distinct philosophies, have each redefined modern luxury.
Where Owens confronts with form, Raf Simons communicates through subtext and nostalgia. His work is often autobiographical, touching on music, adolescence, rebellion and identity. His early collections, long since archived and highly sought after, cemented Raf as a cultural touchstone. Not just a fashion designer but a historian of subcultures.
Few designers have cultivated such a fiercely loyal following as Rick Owens. Known for his sculptural silhouettes, muted palettes and architectural layering, Owens creates fashion as performance, fashion as ritual. There is nothing casual or incidental in his work. It’s intentional, provocative and deeply rooted in countercultural influences, from goth to grunge to brutalist art.
Purple Label is Ralph at his most luxurious: Italian fabrics, hand-finished details and a timeless sophistication that refuses to age. Black Label, leaner and sharper, nods to a European silhouette, while RLX pushes boundaries with tech innovation and sport-driven design. Together, they reveal a Ralph Lauren far beyond prep.
