From 2005 to 2011, Christophe Decarnin oversaw the resurrection of BALMAIN’s fortunes. Decarnin dusted off the forgotten label, brought in leather, denim and studs, and relaunched BALMAIN into the stratosphere. In 2011 he was replaced by Olivier Rousteing, a less experienced but incredibly talented designer who quickly grew into the large shoes Decarnin left behind. Rousteing quickly set about refining BALMAIN collections, using the established platform of his predecessor to move the label towards new frontiers.

Rousteing collections feature strong lines and silhouettes with military influenced detail and fabrications, particularly on outerwear. The classic Balmain ‘Biker’ denim has evolved for Spring/Summer 2013 and zips still feature heavily throughout the entire range.

Layering in a key component to the Balmain Man, so mixing this collection together is imperative in creating the ideal styling.
